Actually Remote privacy policy

Effective October 16, 2026

Actually Remote is a browser extension that reads the job posting you open on LinkedIn, Indeed or Glassdoor and shows whether the job is really remote, and how it fits your resume.

What stays in your browser

Your resume, your preferences (work mode, location and notes) and a random install id are saved in your browser's extension storage. Removing the extension deletes them.

What is sent, and when

Only when you open a job posting on a supported site, the extension sends these to the Actually Remote server:

The extension doesn't read other pages, your browsing history, or anything on job sites besides the posting you open.

How it is used

The server passes the job, resume and preferences to Anthropic's Claude API to produce the analysis, and returns the result to your browser. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data isn't used to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.

The server doesn't store your resume, preferences or the analysis. Its logs record the job title, company, text lengths and your work-mode preference for troubleshooting, and are kept for a short time by our host, Vercel.

To enforce daily usage limits, the server counts requests per install id and per IP address. The IP address is stored only as a one-way hash, and the counters are deleted after about a day.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your data, show ads, or use it for anything other than the analysis you asked for.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. For questions or deletion requests, use the support email on the Actually Remote listing in the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons or the Mac App Store.
